Folk Music as it was - and still is….
Stella Prince doesn’t remember life before music — and it shows.
The Woodstock, NY–born singer-songwriter has quickly emerged as one of the most compelling young voices in modern folk. Blending timeless storytelling with a distinctly Gen Z perspective, Prince bridges the emotional depth of classic folk music with sharp, contemporary lyricism. Stella’s sound carries the spirit of Laurel Canyon. She is shaped by the singer-songwriters who first inspired her love of music – Joni Mitchell and Joan Baez. You can hear that lineage in her voice; there’s something quietly transportive about it, as if it drifts in from another era. Listening to Stella feels like stepping into a room where lyrics are intentional, harmonies linger, and storytelling takes center stage. Yet beneath that vintage warmth is a distinctly modern perspective. Her songs hold the tension between youth and wisdom, independence and longing, capturing the quiet, complicated moments of becoming with a clarity that feels both timeless and urgently relevant to today.
By age 20, Prince had independently booked over 1,000 international shows, building a grassroots following through relentless touring and intimate live performances. Whether headlining venues or appearing at major industry events, she brings an unmistakable presence: grounded, articulate, and deeply connected to her audience.
Beyond her own artistry, Stella is a committed advocate for women in music. Female folk artists were central to her early love of songwriting, and that influence continues to shape her as she builds her career. Inspired by the women who came before her, she is intentional about creating space for those coming up alongside her. She founded an all-female folk showcase in Nashville and has been recognized by MusicRow’s Rising Women on the Row. Her work extends beyond performance — she is actively helping cultivate artist-led spaces that champion and elevate female voices
Recent releases, including “The Replay,” continue to position Stella as a defining voice of her generation, with a debut full-length album slated for Summer 2026.
At her core, Stella Prince is an artist who honors where she comes from — and isn’t afraid to write her way forward.
